PROGRAM GOALS
The Occupational Safety and Health Education Program (OSHEP) has become an important safety and health resource for employers and local unions who are interested in creating a pro-active culture of safety in their workplace. Our goal is to work with organizations to develop innovative and effective safety and health training programs that reduce injuries and strengthen the systems of safety in the workplace. Our programs are designed to enhance the skills of the workforce through training that requires and teaches active problem solving, critical thinking, and communication.
OSHEP goals include:
-
Assisting employers and unions in creating active cultures of safety that encourage everyone-from top management to new hires-to be knowledgeable and committed to safer and more healthful workplaces;
-
Engaging the workforce in active problem solving and encouraging the development of critical thinking and communication skills; and,
-
Strengthening labor-management relations by fostering an atmosphere of frank and honest discussions that overcome the mutual suspicions of management and employees around safety and health issues.
