Urge Legislators to Support Paid Family Leave

The New Jersey State Legislature may consider voting on pending Paid Family Leave Legislation before the legislature goes on Holiday Break in mid-December.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO and the New Jersey Partnership for Working Families (www.njp4wf.org) strongly supports this legislation (S-2249).

Workers should not have to choose between their jobs and their ability to spend the first critical weeks of a child's life, or between a paycheck and a desire to care for a seriously ill family member. That is why we respectfully ask legislators to support this important legislation by becoming a cosponsor of S-2249 / A-3812.

This pro-family insurance policy will give workers the opportunity to take up to 10 weeks off at two-thirds of their pay to care for a sick family member, newborn or newly adopted child. Additionally, this benefit will be entirely funded by employee contributions and will not cost businesses in the state a penny.
